A little bit about myself

UX & Product Designer, currently working in the South Coast, UK. I focus on designing complex and functional web products for B2C and B2B organizations. I'm passionate about improving the lives of others through design. I have been passionate about design since I can remember and have always been involved in hand crafting, painting, creating mureals, photography and graphic design.

I keep up to date on concepts and theories of UX/UI and product design through attending workshops, reading blogs and applying these to projects in my spare time and at work. This commitment to continuous learning and practical application is essential in the rapidly evolving field of design. I am very much a big-picture thinker and enjoy working on complex products end to end, from ideation all the way to development.

I am originally from Cape Town, South Africa and moved to the UK over 12 years ago. I got my degree in Queensland, Australia where I lived for 3 years.

If you want to know more about me, know more about what I’m working on, or talk about working together, feel free to look at my cv or email me.

My design process

I could talk about the numerous prototyping tools I’ve used, or different workshop exercises I’ve done, but ultimately, the specific steps I take on any project always depend on the project goals, resources, and the team I’m working with. But on a higher level, I approach my work in a pragmatic and straight-forward way, with consideration for the context of how a product is used and made.

I focus on defining the problem being addressed from multiple perspectives, understanding user needs and internal needs through quantitative and qualitative research, and establishing a framework for creating and evaluating solutions in the short and long-term. My process also involves lots of collaboration and synthesizing information, and helping to establish business goals that are in line with user goals.

Outside of work

Hiking

I have always loved to hike and every year I take part in at least one marathon hike. I have done the Jurassic Coast Path in 8 days, Camino to Portugal in 9 days, Lake District marathon day hikes and I can go on. See more images below from my gallery.

Paddle boarding and swimming

When I am not out hiking I will be found paddle boarding the sea or snorkling off my board.
